Corning Glassware for use with ROT-X-TRACT-LC

Corning Accelerated One-Step™ Extraction System

Glassware Set
Model No. GS3380

Advantages of the Accelerated One-Step include:
Shortened run times, minimized solvent requirements and fewer sample transfers. The patented hydrophoic membrane is the primary design feature. It is positioned at the bottom of the extractor and separates the water sample from the Methylene Chloride.

Operation is similar to other heavier-than-water designs. The Methylene Chloride boils in a flask, travels up a column, condenses and drips into the sample. The solvent droplets fall continuously through the water, thereby performing the extraction. The membrane allows Methylene Chloride and the extracted compounds to pass into the solvent flask. Water is not allowed to pass, insuring that the extract is completely and continuously dried. The solvent flows unimpeded through the system without forming a pool in the extractor. The combination of short run time and the sealed joints provide for minimal solvent loss.

Sample extraction can normally be completed in 6 hours. Switching from extraction to evaporation is simple by turning the solvent drain valve off. Concentration to final volume takes only 15 minutes.

In conclusion, the combination of ROT-X-TRACT-LC and the Corning Accelerated One-Step Glassware offers complete solutions for laboratories with multiple liquid samples to be extracted. A Method Validation report is available free on request.
