Preventive Maintenance Guidelines for S-EVAP Evaporators

Keep your S-EVAP running reliably, year after year

S-EVAP concentrators are engineered with high-quality stainless steel components, built to withstand demanding lab environments. With routine cleaning and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), your instrument can deliver consistent performance for many years.

Regular PM helps reduce downtime, improve sample recovery, and protect your investment in both your equipment and your workflow.

Routine Care

Simple upkeep by lab staff can go a long way toward maintaining system performance and preventing premature wear.

Heat Bath Maintenance

Water quality plays a key role in prolonging the life of your bath’s heating elements. To prevent mineral buildup, change the bath water weekly and use distilled or deionized water whenever possible. You can also add a mild algaecide (like Clear Bath from VWR or Bath Clear from Fisher) to reduce biological growth.

Clean the bath monthly or as needed using a non-abrasive scouring pad and a mild detergent like Liquinox. If using hard tap water, more frequent cleaning may be necessary to prevent scale formation.

General Cleaning

In case of solvent spills, wipe down the surface of the control box with a damp sponge or paper towel. We recommend using water or a mild laboratory detergent such as Liquinox or Alconox.

Annual Preventative Maintenance

A full PM inspection is recommended every 1–2 years to ensure safe, consistent, and accurate operation. This can be done in-house using an Organomation PM kit or scheduled with a certified service partner.

⚠️ Caution: Always follow the official PM instructions for your specific S-EVAP model. This guide is intended to provide general recommendations only.

Scale Removal

If your system has visible mineral buildup, start your PM inspection with a thorough bath cleaning. Scale buildup is the leading cause of heating element failure in S-EVAP models and should be addressed before checking the calibration on the bath.

Bath Calibration

Verify that the bath reaches and holds your target temperature. Recalibration every 1–2 years helps ensure accurate and repeatable heating.

Replacement of Routine Wear Parts

We recommend preemptively replacing water tubing and fittings during each PM interval, regardless of their appearance. Proactive replacement helps prevent unexpected downtime due to leaks or solvent loss due to underperforming condensers.

Other Wear Parts to Inspect

During your PM check, inspect water fittings, the water flow gauge, and the control box splash guard for wear. Although these components typically last several years, their lifespan can vary based on lab conditions and usage.

Water Flow Verification

After reassembling the S-EVAP, confirm that water flows evenly through all condensers and that the system is free of leaks or blockages.

What If You Spot a Problem?

If you notice any signs of damage, misalignment, or poor performance during PM, contact Organomation. We’ll help identify the right replacement parts or schedule a service visit if needed.
