Preventative Maintenance

Organomation instruments are built to last for over a decade. Like all lab equipment, however, regular maintenance is key to ensuring reliable performance over time. Preventive maintenance (PM) helps avoid downtime, improves sample recovery, and extends the life of your instrument.

We recommend a full PM check every 1-2 years for most Organomation instruments, with routine cleaning and basic maintenance in between to keep your equipment running smoothly. Use the links below to access detailed guidelines by product line:

Choose the PM Option That Works for You

You can either perform PM yourself using one of our kits or schedule an on-site visit with a certified Organomation service partner.

1. Do-It-Yourself Preventative Maintenance

Organomation offers PM kits that include step-by-step instructions, all routine replacement parts, and any hex keys needed to adjust your instrument. You may need to provide a calibrated thermometer or basic tools like a Phillips head screwdriver. If any issues are found during the check, reach out to Organomation for any wear parts that may need to be replaced separately.

2. Schedule a PM Visit

Prefer to leave it to a professional? Organomation’s certified service partners can perform the full inspection and service on-site. They’ll bring all necessary tools, calibration equipment, and standard replacement parts, along with a small assortment of common wear parts just in case additional components need to be swapped out.

What to Expect

What to Expect During a Preventative Maintenance Visit

When you schedule a preventive maintenance (PM) visit with an Organomation-certified service partner, you can expect a thorough inspection and tune-up designed to keep your evaporator running at peak performance. These visits typically take 1-2 hours, but may vary depending on the model and condition of the unit.

PM visits are designed for units that are in working condition. Don’t worry if yours is not; we may just recommend a different type of service visit. If you have an older unit, please send in a photo of your setup ahead of time to make sure our technicians are prepared for what your unit might need.

During the visit, the technician will:

1.  Check and realign moving parts
2.  Replace routine wear parts, for instance needles, tubing, and filters
3.  Identify any parts showing early signs of wear and recommend replacement if needed. Technicians can replace select wear parts on site if needed at no additional cost.
4.  Recalibrate the heating unit for heated models
5.  Test for leaks and confirm proper gas or water flow through the entire system

At the end of the visit, you’ll receive a brief summary of the work completed, along with any findings or recommendations for follow-up. Our goal is to leave your evaporator in excellent condition and your lab confident in its reliability.

What to Expect During DIY Preventative Maintenance

If your lab prefers to handle preventive maintenance in-house, you will just need the correct PM kit for your instrument model, a few hours, and some tools. Expect to complete calibration, alignments, and wear parts inspections with assistance from step-by-step instructions and video clips. You will need to provide basic tools (such as a wrench or Phillips screwdriver) along with a calibrated thermometer for temperature calibration. Most labs complete the process in 1–3 hours, depending on the model and the condition of the unit.

If you encounter issues during your inspection, such as worn or misaligned parts not included in the kit, you can contact Organomation for replacement components or troubleshooting support. DIY PM is a simple, cost-effective way to extend the life of your instrument and minimize the risk of downtime.
